Captain James Thain and Frank Taylor, Munich crash

Jun. 06, 1969 - Captain Thain is cleared: Mr. William Rodgers, Minister of State, Board of Trade said that the Government accepted the findings of the report clearing Captain Thain of blame in the Munich crash which happened 11 years ago. Twenty three people died in the crash, including eight Manchester United footballers. Photo shows Captain James Thain shaking hands with Frank Taylor, who survived the crash. He was a sports writer at the time on the late News Chronicle, and spent 18 months in hospital after the crash. He was one of the Captain's supporters during his fight to clear his name
