Aug. 08, 1955 - Group Captain Townsend Wins Horse Race at Ostend. Group Captain Townsend, riding the chesnut mare, Kwenda, was cheered by the great crowd yesterday, as he rode the horse to victory in a photo finish in the Prix de Cyrano horse race at Ostend. Many sweltering in the bright sunshine were British tourists intent on catching a glimpse of the 41 year old Battle of Britain hero whose name has been romantically linked with that of Princess Margaret.
