Nov. 11, 1954 - Introducing the Albatross - New All-British motor scooter. Does over 80 m.p. Gallon.:The Albatross - new All-British motor scooter - the first to compete with the Continental designs has put in its appearance and will be shown to the public for the first time at the Cycle and Motor Cycle Show next week. Built by the Dayton Cycle Company of Park Royal, London - the machine is an ideal runabout and is also a comfortable long-distance two-seat tourer. Powered by a 225 c.c Villiers two - stroke engine it can cruise all day at 55 - 60 m.p.h. has a top speed of over 65 m.p.h. and patrol consumption of more than 80 m.p. gallon. It is fitted with a car-type facia panel complete with speedometer; ammeter; key-operate ignition switch; separate lighting switch and choke control knot - and aldo has a big 7 headlamp. The Albatross has nearly twice the speed and power plus most of the extras of its Italian and German competitors and is priced at £82 - 12 - Od. inclusive of Purchase Tax.
