Oct. 10, 1955 - INTRODUCING THE MOPED NEW ALL-BRITISH POWERED CYCLE CAPABLE OF 200 MILES PER GALLON. To be seen today by the Press for the first time was the Moped - an all-British answer to the Continental powered cycles. It is manufactured by the Power-Pak Engineering Company of Coventry and will make its debut at the Cycle and Motor Cycle Show at Earl's Court next month. It is a specially constructed bicycle type machine with many scooter and motor cycle characteristics including sprung front forks, pressed steel structure, wide front saddle and convenient lifting handle. Powered by a 49 c.c. Power-Pak rubber-mounted engine driving the rear wheel by means of a positive-mesh roller applied to the tower. Fuel consumption is in the region of 200 m.p.h. at an all-day cruising speed of 30 m.p.h. Selling price £54.17.0. including P.T.
