Oct. 10, 1958 - New British Scooters To Challenge World Markets The Triumph Tigress 250 C.C. Machine. Two new British Scooters were announced today - to challenge the increasing world scooter market. by the Automotive Division of the BSA group. They are the 250 c.c. twin Triumph Tigress - and the 175 c.c. two-stroke B.S.A. Sunbeam. The 250 c.c. machine is capable of cruising all day at 55-60 m.p.h. with a top speed of 65-70 m.p.h. and does 120 miles p.gallon. It has fan cooling - coil ignition and weighs 240 lb. Price for the 250 c.c. model is £187-2-6, and with electric starter £200 - 17 -0d. both inclusive of purchase tax.
