Aug. 08, 1957 - 80 year old Sir Alliott Roe, co-founder with his brother of the famous A.V. Roe aircraft firm, and the first to fly in Britain 49 years ago has invented a shaft driven armchair motor scooter, which will be Britain's answer to the invasion of foreign machines. Sir Alliott says it's the nearest thing to a car on two wheels. the 60 m.h Avle Bicar has its driving seat situated between the wheels and not over a foot lover. It has a cushioned backrest and the driver's legs are stretched out in front of him instead of downwards. The handlebar grips are inclined like the steering wheel of a car. the power unit is a 192 c.c. Le Velocette engines.
