Jun. 06, 1961 - London's New Minicabs go into operation. Dispute with Norman Carbie in fleet street.: The fleet of 200 Dauphine Minicabs owned by Welbeck Motors - and backed by millionaire Isaac Wolfson went into operation in London this afternoon- in opposition to the London Taxi Cabs. The Minicabs are not allowed to ply for hire - but are booked and detailed by radio telephone. There was an incident in Fleet Street a when a dispute arose between a Minicab drier and Taxi driver.
