Jun. 06, 1961 - London's New Minicabs Go Into Operation Dispute With Normal Cabbie In Fleet Street: The fleet of 200 Dauphine Minicabs owned by Welbeck Motors and backed by millionaire Isaac Wolfson went into operation in London Taxicab. The Minicabs re not allowed to ply for hire - but are booked by radio telephone. There was an incident in Fleet Street this afternoon when a Minicab driver came to dispute with an ordinary cabbie.
