Sep. 09, 1965 - The First Ever Amphi-Scooter: Today was Press Day of the Motor Cycle and Cycle Show, which opens tomorrow at Brighton - and on show was the world's first really amphibious motor scooter, which was driven down to the beach and into the sea. The machine is a standard Lambretta 125 co scooter, converted to be driven on land or sea. It has retractable ski-type floats and a rotary paddle on the rear wheel which does not interfere with normal road use. Photo shows The Lambretta Amphi-Scooter, driven by its designer, Douglas Bedford, with 21-year old model, Donna White on the pillion - being demonstrated in the sea at Brighton today
