Sep. 09, 1967 - Mercury Cyclone for 1968 introduces two sporty fastback models with squared off rear design, distinctive grille and a 302-cubic-inch V-8 engine as standard. There are four models in the Cyclone series, which is included in the new Mercury Montego car line of 13 models introduced for 1968. Besides the Cyclone fastback, pictured above, there's a fastback in the Cyclone GT and a formal roof two-door hardtop in both the Cyclone and Cyclone GT. Ford Motor Company Lifeguard Design Safety Features, including energy-absorbing steering column and steering wheel, are incorporated in the new cars which will be introduced in Lincoln-Mercury dealerships
