New V-8 engines in a broader range and engineering advances highlight the entire Cougar line. Cougar offers a variety of new options, including manually adjusted front-seat headrests, as pictured above. Besides this standard model, Cougar also offers the Cougar GT, the sporty Cougar XR-7 and the new Cougar 7.0 Litre GT.E. The GT.E features a power dome, wide lower body silver paint and quad exhaust pipes. It is powered by a 427-cubic-inch V-8 teamed with Merc-O-Matic transmission and backed by performance handling package, styled steel wheels, power disc brakes and power steering. Ford Motor Company Lifeguard Design Safety Features, including energy-absorbing steering column and steering wheel, are incorporated in the new Cougars which go on sale in Lincoln-Mercury dealerships on September 22
