Sep. 09, 1967 - Mercury's features for 1968 emphasize its relationship to the classic Lincoln Continental. Mercury's resemblance to Continental starts with a crisp new forward- thrusting die-cast grille, power dome hood and wrap-around bumper with functional air slots. Highlighting the three-dimensional front end are new vertical parking lamps that also serve as side marker lights at night and as turn signals designed as wrap-around elements in the front fenders. Most luxurious of all Mercury is the Brougham four-door hardtop, one of four models of four-door hardtops, pictured above. Mercury also offers new two-door hardtops with sporty, sweeping roof lines as well as the more formal Marquis two-door hardtop. Ford Motor Company Lifeguard Design Safety Features, including energy-absorbing steering column and steering wheel, are incorporated in the 16 Mercury models which go on sale in Lincoln-Mercury dealerships on September 22
