May 05, 1968 - The World's Biggest and Most Expensive Car. The Fabulous Fab One. The biggest, most expensive and most futuristic car in the world was unveiled at a reception today (Sunday) at the Duke of Bedford's home, Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire. The car, Fab One, is a full size, fully operational version of the pink limousine used by TV puppet heroine Lady Penelope in Garry Anderson's series Thunderbirds, and in his United Artists feature film Thunderbirds Six'. Fab one weighs more three tons, is eight feet wide and twenty two feet six inch long, contains its own computer, closed circuit TV screens and camera, and has a remote controlled machine gun. Which fires through the radiation grill. It's cost was more than 1, 000 and is said to be able to run at 150 m.p.h. The car is to go on a tour of Britain with Lady Penelope, who was chosen because of her striking resemblance to the puppet of Lady Penelope of the Thunderbird TV Series.
