Oct. 24, 1968 - Metropolitan Police Recruit Civilian Tow-Away Men: As from this week Metropolitan Policemen in Central London will be assisted by a squad of specially trained civilian vehicle Removal Officers to drive or tow away offending vehicles, Each man will wear a special uniform and working under the direction of police officers their duties will include the removal of vehicles for all types of traffic offences.
