Jul. 07, 1969 - American Gets Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 11 for 6, 500 at Vintage Car Auction. During the auctioning of Veteran and Vintage cars that are being auctioned by the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain, at the Empire Hall Olympia, Mr. Harry Resnick of New York bought the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 11 for 6, 500. This car was built by count Zbrewski - it has a 18, 882cc engine of 230 H.P. which was used in the first World War Airship.
