Oct. 29, 1971 - October 29th 1971 Electric car prototype donated to the nation. Arrives at the Science Museum Ford of Britain today donates its prototype electricity and suburban car, the Comuta to the Science Museum. It is the first electric car to have been made by a major British car manufacturer. It was first shown to the public four years ago at the opening of Ford's £10 million research and engineering centre, Dunton, Esses. The Comuta was accepted by the director of the Science Museum, Sir David Fellett, after a symbolic farewell journey through the London traffic from the Motor Show at Earls Court this morning.
