1969 - Off to Desert Cruise: 24 Competitors from France, Algeria, England, Germany, Sweden and Belguim are taking part in a Desert Cruise which will take them from Laghouat (Algeria) to El Golea on the other side of the Sahara Desert. The Vehicle they use is a two-wheel cart equipped with a windsail. There are 12 carts in all manned by relay teams. Photo shows the start of the race at Laghouat
