Aug. 08, 1972 - FIRST FRENCH METRO CARS PRODUCED IN MEXICO: Cars for the Mexico City subway are produced under license at the nationalized Renault plant in Sahagun, running on rubber tires. President ECHEVERRIA visited the plant on August 17, 1972 when first car was completed. Renault Mexico produces also 16, 000 cars, they plan increase to 32, 000 ears within the next two years.
