Aug. 13, 1974 - Spectacular Rescue: A highly spectacular rescue operation was carried out near Brug, in the canton of Wallis, Switzerland. A car plunged 23 feet into the fast - running River Rhone. A rescue helicopter arrived on the scene 20 minitus after the accident, and freed the copants, the driver and his wife, from their dangerous situation. The helicopter first rescued the driver, then his wife, while men on the bank held the car with ropes to prevent it being swept away.
