1978 - Electrified Paint -- paint department employees attach electrodes to vw Rabbit body shell before it takes its over - the roof plunge into a 55, 000- gallon electricoat bathtub in Volkswagen westmoreland's paint department. Upper right photo shows it nearly submerged as it backs down into the tub of primer paint. Picture at lower left shows it as it comes up from its total submersion in the primer tub while photo at lower right shows the Rabbit shell as it enters a 392 - degree-Fahrenheit (200- degree Celsius) drying oven on its way to a second priming, this time in an electrostatic spray booth
