Sep. 09, 1980 - The Famous Chitty Chitty Bang Bang up for auction: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the legendary carriage - and the star of the children's story written by Bond's creator Ian Fleming, is to be sold later this month by British Car Auctions at their Frimley Bridges, Pakborough, Hants, branch. The car was at Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath, with the producer of the 1968 film adaptation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Albert (Cubby) Broccoli. It is the first time the car has come up for sale and it could change hands for as much as £50, 000. The car is 17 fett long with a boat shaped body made of polished wood, aluminum, brass and copper. Her interior is trimmed in button red leather, and is fitted with a Ford V 6 engine, and is capable of speeds up to 100 mph. The present owner is Jim Godden, owner of the Rotunda Amusement Park at Folkestons.
