Jan. 30, 1981 - January 30th 1981: 30th death/day of Ferdinand Porsche: January 30th 1951 Ferdinand Porsche, one of the most important and allround engineers of German carfactoring died in Stuttgart/West Germany. Born on September 3rd 1875 at Maffersdorf near Reichenberg/Nordbohmen, Porsche first worked at electromobil factoring. 1916 he became general manager of Austro Daimler Wiener Neustadt Unterturkheim and worked out quite a lot of motorcars and lorries. 1931 Porsche founded an own engineering department in Stuttgart, out of this - beside a lot of other vehicles - same the 5-lite-racing of Auto Union. The cost important work of Porsche should have been the construction of the Volkswagen (since 1934). Photo shows Dr. Ing. h.c.
