1972 - Cargo - The newest Mechanical Man He can even play chess.: Cargo - a mechanical man - recently born in a California US Garage can hammer, drill, mix chemicals, pick up papers, stack boxes, roll his eyes, play chess. Cargo was constructed by Mr. Harvey Chapman in three months from discarded aircraft parts. The brain is electronic - a neat accumulation of six aircraft serve systems. The nervous system consists of 1, 200 feet of wire cable - and a two-way radio transmitter enables him to make pertinent remarks. he is operated by remote control. Each arm contains five tiny actuator motors controlled by 22 push buttons which also operate the robot's jaws and lips, increase his height six inches, roll the eyes and enable him to bow from the hips. The right arm of the robot duplicates each movement of the mechanical arm - that his creator Harvey Chapman operates at the control unit.
