Jun. 06, 1976 - 150th Anniversary of Death of Carl Maria von Weber: On 5 June 1976 it will be 150 years since the German composer Carl Maria Von Weber (pictured) died in London. The musician, born in Eutin, Germany in 1786, was educated by Michael Haydn at Salzburg and Abbot Vogler at Vienna, Austria. In 1804 he became opera conductor at Breslau, two years later he entered the service of the Wuerttembergian sovereigns. In 1813 he went to Prague, where he was an opera-conductor again and in 1817 he joined the new Deutsche Oper in Dresden. Freischutz, Oberon, The Three Pintos, Euryanthe are some of the well-known operas by Carl Maria von Weber, who also composed sacred music, chamber-music as well as ballads etc
