It is one of a new series of Maugham stories to be transmitted in colour on BBC-2 later in the year. Carroll baker has starred in such outstanding film successes as Baby Doll, The Carpetbaggers etc, and Michael Bryant is one of the Britain's busiest and most respected actors.
