Cast of TV comedy series On the Buses, LWT
May 28, 1969 - On The Buses - Returns: London Weekend Television's Top 20 comedy series On the Buses returns to viewers screens this weekend (London on Saturday, May 31st. and other areas Friday May 30) but the regular cast will be using a slightly more modern bus than the one in this picture. Pictured with this 1932 Renault Autobus are Reg Varney the bus driver; Mother (Doris Hare); Conductor (Bob Grant); Reg's sister (Anna Karen); Inspector (Stephen Lewis) and Anna's Husband (Michael Robbins) who for the next six weeks will be appearing in more situations on and around Luxton and District Traction Company's bus depot, which actually uses up-to-date Bristol Lodekka buses. The Renault was, until only six weeks ago, the only bus of its kind in this country. Owned by Adam Bristow with Roy Stringer of the Robin Hood Steak House, Kingston Vale, as co-driver. Photo shows No Coaches Here - says the sign held by the inspector - much to the consternation of Reg Varney and Company - when they pulled up for a pint - during a trip around Richmond on the ancient Renault
