Sep. 09, 1953 - Marshal Tito Claims Trieste Hinterland': Marshal Tito President of Yugoslavia, proposed that the city of Trieste be Internationalied and that its Hinterland, the remainder of the free Territory which is purely Jugoslav, be in Corporated in Jugoslavia. Jugoslavia sees no other solution, he added, during a longs peach to 250, 000people assembled at Okroglica, only three miles from the Italian frontier. he also asked Italy withdraw her troops from the border area.
