Sep. 09, 1954 - Ancient Britons Wine and Dine In The Depths of Chislehurst Caves. A caveman's Fungi Festival was staged in the depths of Chislehurst caves, Kent. It was organised by the Speleological Society (Cave explorers) who want to show their junior members, now seeking to join the Society. Just how Britain's early inhabitants went about things. Clad in skins they enjoyed a typical Ancient Menu- mushrooms and edible fungi, wild fruits and nuts, and drank mead from ox-horns.
