Feb. 02, 1953 - Malay Tailor turns soldier to defend his home from reds. In her 5 year old battle against the Communists in Melaya. Britain not only has supplied her own troops, but has been teaching the Malayans to protect their homes by organizing a home guard over 300, 000 volunteers. A typical member of this Home Guard is Ismail bin baker, a tailor member of this Home Guard is Ismail, who has a wife and two children to protect, recently took a special two weeks course which resulted in his enlistment as a paid instructor to help train other Home guard volunteers. Now Ismail the tailor is a Sergeant, playing a full time part in ridding his country of the Communist terror. Picture shows Top left Ismail bin Baker on parade, with his Home guard badge on his cap.
