May 05, 1958 - Dustmen become City Genes for a few hours. Housewives in Lampton Road, Hounslow were more than a little surprised when they saw their dustbins being emptied this morning by men wearing frock coats top hats bowlers and spats. Seventeen year old David Fidler one of the dust collectors said they found the clothing wrapped in a bundle of refuse and thought they would wear them for a lark. Now their boss has told them. No fancy Clothes So back to the dustbins go the Toffs outfits. Photo shows the three dustmen toffs James toffs James Ruff Esq. (Left); John Warren Esq. and David Fidler Esq. complete in top hats etc.. today
