1958 - Stowaway girl from Yugoslavia escapes from ship. Salopek Marija the 22 year old Yugoslavia girl who was found by customs men aboard the Orange ship Ivan Gorthon - whe the vessel arrived in the London Docks - and who was locked in the ship's sick bay to await return to Yugoslavia - has disappeared from the vessel. The girl lay hidden among crates of oranges for three weeks. The Master of the vessel held an inquiry - and sacked a member of the crew.
