Jul. 07, 1959 - Red-Eye a new portable shoulder fired missile, designed to track down low flying aircraft, and currently under development by the Convair Div of General Dynamic Corp. is being inspected by troops of the Army's famed Honor Guard, the 3rd Inf at Fort Myer. This new surface to air missile system will provide ground combat troops with a weapon that resembles the famed Bazooka but in appearance only. The launch tube will serve as a shipping container for the missile when capped at both ends. The missile itself is a composite structure containing propellant, warhead and an electronic guidance system. I Inspecting the missile are (L to R) SP-4 Jerry G.
