Feb. 25 Uganda Justice: General Idi Amin, on the advice of a specially constituted military committee recently ordered convicted murder to be shot before a firing squad in the site of the Original crime. Arkanjero Baru, a Uganda Army Sergent was found guilt of killing a Kenyan Air Force Pilot and wounding a Uganda Army officer at a town close to the Kenyan border. Watched by a crowd of 10, 000 people, Baru was shot by firing squad after having the last rites read by a catholic priest, He was blindfolded and roped a stump erected specially on the small landing strip near the bar in which the incident occurred, He was first Uganda soldier to die in the manner.
