Apr. 18 Britain's Antarctic Outpost: The story of the John Bisco's Voyage to the Antarctic and of the elven British scientists marooned on Stonington Island for two years has thrown a spotlight on to Britain's Antarctic possessions. Britain staked a claim on the Iceland snow of the Antarctic in 1908. The territories. included Graham Land, the Mainland Mass, and the Islands round - the South Shelands, South Orkneys, and South Georgia. Scientific stations were set up by the Falkland Island Dependencies Survey, Britain has lead in Scientific research in these areas.
