Jan. 01, 1964 - Fanny Hill Case Opens At Bow Street: The case opened at Bow street court in London yesterday in which London book distributor Ralph Gold has been summonsed to show cause why copies of the book the police from a London shop, should not be destroyed under the 1959 Obscene publications Act. The book was written215 years ago by John Cleland. Yesterday, a book by the same author Memories of a Coxcomb was published in London, and 50, 000 copies were sold on the first day.
