Jul. 07, 1960 - Man Squats On ledge And Holds Up City Traffic I LL Jump - Drama In Birmingham.: Forty six year old Reginald Gareett created a sensation in the centre of Birmingham yesterday - when he sat for 101 minutes on a ledge - 80 feet up from the ground - and threatened to jump. Traffic stopped below - and a crowd of 8, 000 people stopped to watch the drama. Just before 1 o'clock - Grarbett telephoned a Birmingham Newspaper - and said, I am going to chuck myself off the top of Lewis's store'. He was eventually pansusded to go back into the safety of the building he was taken to hospital for observation.: Photo shows Mr. Gordon Young looks out of a window - and tires to pursuade squatting Reginald Garbett to return to safety
