May 05, 1964 - Rescuing The Scuttled Pie Dish: Yesterday an unusual rescue operation was carried our at Miffield, Yorks, when the Denby Dale Pie Dish - the world's largest - was raised from the bottom of the canal where it had been sunk by a gang of youngsters. The dish had been propelled along the canal from it's makers to Denby Dale, where it is to be filled with a mammoth pie to commemorate the births of the four Royal babies. The sinking will mean that Lloyds of London, the World's biggest shipping insurers, will get their stranges ever insurance claim, to the garage charges for raising the pie dish with a breakdown lorry. The garage are also wondering if they will be able to claim salvage money as can tugs that rescue ships at sea.
