Oct. 10, 1962 - Menderes depities freed in Turkey: More than 200 deputies of the Menderes regime in Turkey were freed from prison on Thursday. They had been sentenced to terms ranging from two to eight years by the Special Court of Yassiada after the military coup d'etat of May, 1960, and were freed under an amnesty voted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Most of them came from the State Prison of Kayseri in south eastern Turkey.
