1953 - Greek Independence Day Parade in New York.. Native Costumes and Laurel Garlands.. Several thousands Greeks who are now American Citizens marched in parade along the Fifth Avenue New York - to celebrate - the Independence Day of their native land.. The parade was headed by General James A Van Fleet who helped liberate Greece during the War.. The Greek girls were dressed in their national Costume.
