Jun. 06, 1961 - Sale of old masters at Sotheby's. Goya painting fetches £140, 000. Important old master paintings were on sale yesterday at Sotheby's, among them was a portrait of the Duke of Wellington by Goya, owned by the Duke of Leeds. The famous painting was knocked down for £140, 000 to Texan oil tycoon, Charles Wrightsman. Photo shows the man who bought the masterpiece to add to his art collection - Mr. Charles Wrightsman seen with his wife during the sale at Sotheby's yesterday. He already owns paintings by Vermeer, El Greco and Tiepolo
