Charlie Chaplin in the Old Kent Road, SE London
Apr. 17 Charlie Chaplin In The Old Kent Road: Charlie Chaplin finished shooting his new picture A Countess from Hong Kong yesterday - and did so only a short way from the place in Southwark London, where he was born 77 years ago. The final scenes were in a warehouse in the Old Kent Road, just two turnings from the Chaplin birthplace in East Street. Mr. Chaplin did not visit the street - he has already done so - alone. Photo shows 71-year old Mrs. Lucy Leach, who has lived all her life in Old Kent Road, steps Charlie Chaplin for a chat yesterday. On right is Chaplin's wife, Oona
