Jun. 05, 1954 - Charlie Chaplin Receives 5, 000 Prize of The World Peace Council'.. World famous Charlie Chaplin was unable to deliver his own speech - when he received the 5, 000 prize awarded by the World Peace Council in Zurich - owing to acute toothache. In the speech he warned that the secret manufacture of Hydrogen bombs would soon be common knowledge. All Nations big and small, will have them he said at his villa overlooking Lake Geneva.
