Chief Magana from Nyasaland, Africa

Jan. 09, 1953 - DUSKY CHIEF HERE TO SEE THE QUEEN - AND TO TOUCH HER SHOE - IN HOMAGE. Five chiefs from Nyasaland, Africa are in London today to pay homage to Her Majesty the Queen - and if they do manage to see the Queen they will fall to their knees - and Chief Somba will seek to touch the heel of the Sovereign - and to present a petition to the Queen - requesting that Nyasaland should not be federated - as has been suggested. They attended a meeting last evening at the International League Friendly Society - at which they expressed their dislike of the proposed Federation. Keystone Photo Shows:- Chief Magana raises his finger to stress a point - during the meeting last evening
