Children create new monsters for BBC TV series Dr Who
Dec. 15, 1967 - Monsters Made By Children. Three new monsters may soon appear in the BBC-1 science fiction serial Dr. Who'. They are more dangerous than even the Daleks - and have been created by three children. One of the youngsters is a four-year old girl, Karen Dagg, of Mandeville Gardens, Walsall, Staffs. She cried while posing with the monsters yesterday. Perhaps even she was frightened by her creation, a steel octopus with explosive arms. Karen was visiting BBC's Lime Grove television studios with the two other children, Paul Worrall, aged 8, of Hawkesley Avenue, Sheffield, and Stephen Thompson, 13, of Moira, near Burton-on-Trent. The three were winners of a Dr. Who monster competition organised by the BBC-1 Blue Peter children's programme. A condition of the 250, 000 entries was that the monsters should have weapons never yet used in the Dr. Who series. But the monsters, if they appear, will be the friends of Dr. Who
