Apr. 12 Camp Lenin in Concepcion, Chile - More than six hundred families homeless in the city of Concepcion, Chile, recently established their homes in barren land near the city, calling the makeshift neighborhood: Camp Lenin. The makeshift camp of the humble people, totaling more than three thousand people, were harshly repressed by police when they began the work of construction of their homes, but managed to survive and consolidate in their new facility thanks to the cooperation and assistance received from workers and students in the area. Seventeen unions in the province of Concepcion participated in the Occupation of the land, and this is considered as the first victory in the struggle for decent housing for Chilean workers
