Christian Aid demonstration, Trafalgar Square, London

May 05, 1971 - Church Leaders invited to eat Grass during Christian Aid demonstration in Trafalgar Square, London. Church leaders were asked by young Africans and Asians to sit with them in Trafalgar Square today and share a meal of grass during a Christian Aid demonstration. Grass, they say, is sometimes the only food available to some of the world's poor - and taken on an empty stomach it can be a killer. Photo shows Bishop Sansbury, the General Secretary of the British Council of Churches, accepts the invitation to eat grass during today's demonstration
