Christian missionary ship destined for Liberia

Unique mission ship: Vicksburg, Miss. -- This converted World War I landing ship is being loaded here before it left on a mission to carry Christianity to Liberia through mechanised farming. The 200-ft. Modern Noah's Ark was equipped by Robert G. Letourneau - an industrialist who has devoted himself to the service of religion. Hungry natives will listen to us about God, he says, if we can show them a field of grain with a combine harvesting more in a day than they can eat in a year. The ship's hold, which once carried tanks and fighting men, is loaded with tree-cutting machines, a complete sawmill, bulldozers, tractors, combines and other farm machinery. The deck framework is a travelling crane for unloading cargo on the beach at craft's bow. Twenty Technical missionaries will begin laying out a model farm on a 500, 000-acre tract near Baffu Bay immediately after their arrival.
