Jun. 06, 1963 - Christine Keeler In Court. Profumo Resigns: Miss Christine Keeler, the London model, appeared in Court when black singer Lucky Gordon appeared accused of assaulting her and attempting to cause her bodily harm. The case was suddenly adjourned this afternoon. It later became known that War Minister John Profumo, whose name was linked with Miss Keeler's after she had disappeared during the trial of Edgecombe, another West Indian who was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for attempting to murder her. At the time Mr. Profumo denied being connected with her disappearance or that there had been anything improper in his association with Miss Keeler, - he made a statement to this effect in the House of Commons on March 22 - he now admits that his statement was not true and has resigned from the Government.
