Nov. 11, 1960 - The Christmas Illuminations Are Switched On In The West-End: The Christmas illuminations in Oxford - street and Regent - street were switched on this evening by Lord Mancroft when he pressed a switch in an Oxford-street store. In Regent-street 46 larger-than-life-size sytlised angels, blowing golden trumpets, were festooned in fairy lights, while simultaneously in Oxford-Street white stars burst into radiance high above the road.
