Dec. 12, 1979 - Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree Switched On: The traditional lighting up of the Norwegian Christmas Tree took place in Trafalgar Square last night. The tree is 70ft high, and is decorated with 650 white lights and they were switched on by Crown Princess Sonja of Norway. Her country has given the tree to Londonever since the end of the war.
